Jimmy’s Reverse Advent Calendar

Walking into Jimmy’s for the first time I could see there were lots of things put in place to make me feel calm, appreciated and valued as a person. It was just so welcoming, the fact there was food, there was comfort, there were staff to have a chat with you to see how you were – Former Jimmy’s Resident

A Reverse Advent Calendar is a thoughtful and impactful twist on the traditional Advent calendar. Instead of receiving a gift or treat each day leading up to Christmas, you give back by donating a small item every day. Typically, you start on December 1st and, by Christmas Eve, you’ve collected a box of items to donate. These could be non-perishable food items, hygiene products or other items that would bring joy or assistance to those who may not have as much during the Christmas season.

Within this pack you will find an advent calendar with donation ideas. You can stick to the days suggested, or move the items around. If your doing this as part of a school that breaks up for the Christmas holidays please do let us know and we can arrange for you to drop off your box(es) in time for the end of term. Whilst many of the items are needed all year round, you may have collected some seasonal goods and we definitely don’t want them to go to waste!

The idea behind the Reverse Advent Calendar is simple but powerful: it encourages kindness, generosity, and community spirit by sharing and caring for others. Starting a Reverse Advent Calendar is a great school, group or family activity, and it’s also a wonderful way to reflect on the things you’re grateful for while actively making a positive impact on others.

Within this pack you will find

What else will you need?

  • A box/boxes to collect items each day
  • A group of wonderful and kind people to donate

Thank you again for choosing to support Jimmy’s in this way. We can’t do what we do without you!

PS If this all sounds lovely but you would rather simply give a donation you can do so here.
